Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The first PTA meeting was held on Thursday, November 16, 2020. The PTA consists of five members: two teachers (Mr. Daniel Emeru and Mrs. Bezaye Kiros), two parents (Dr. Tigistu Adamu and Mrs. Hiwot Mekonnen), and one school representative (Mr. Jemal Ibrahim). The first meeting was addressed by One Planet’s Executive Director, Zelalem Amare, who shared the school’s vision and expectations. Ex -PTA member Mr. Hayelom Yidnekew, also shared his extensive experiences, including those gained abroad, which gave the members focus on volunteering, parent training and anecdotal One Planet experiences. Elections of officers, chairperson, secretary and treasurer were held. A draft copy of the by-laws that govern the PTA was presented and feedback given. The second meeting was held on Thursday, November 26, 2020. Members discussed and enriched the PTA by-laws. They brainstormed what the PTA plan should look like. The third meeting was held on Thursday, December 3, 2020. A draft plan was presented to conduct a survey of the school’s community that would get ideas for the PTA to work on. Therefore, survey questions were discussed and as a result, the PTA is working on how to engage parents on various issues. The PTA survey will come out soon.
