The School Board of One Planet International School is established by the Shareholders of One Planet International School PLC as a high-level deliberative body tasked with providing input to Shareholders and Management towards the future management of the School.
The governance structure of One Planet International School is comprised of three main elements. First, the Shareholders shape the vision, values, and operating principles. Secondly, the Board brings strategic direction, planning, monitoring and financial, operational, and technical (academic) oversight of the school. The day-to-day operations of the school remain the responsibility of the school's Executive Director and the management.
While individual Board members may be stakeholders in the School community, they are called upon to set aside any personal interest and make decisions that serve the best interests of the school as a whole. Members are called upon to bring their varied perspectives and concerns to bear on issues, but not to serve as representatives working for the interests of any particular group.
It is the responsibility of the School Board to consult and provide guidance on a number of critical aspects of the school. This guidance will be transmitted to the Executive Director, the management, and shareholders for them to carefully consider for implementation in the functioning and plans of the school. Shareholders will only overrule guidance offered by the Board in exceptional cases.
